Saudi Arabia promised the United States hundreds of billions of investments during Trump's visit

The White House emphasized that the agreements will strengthen energy security, the military industry, and access to global infrastructure and critical minerals, among other things. Saudi Arabia will purchase weapons worth nearly $142 billion, in what it described as "the largest defense cooperation agreement" signed by Washington.

Saudi Arabia pledged billions of dollars in deals with the United States on Tuesday, May 13, in areas such as defense and artificial intelligence, during a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced he would lift sanctions against Syria

The US president was greeted by an impressive escort of several Saudi F-15s upon his arrival in Riyadh, at the start of a tour that the White House described as historic and that will also take him to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Trump welcomed Mohammed bin Salman's pledge to invest $600 billion and joked that Riyadh should invest $1 trillion. "We have the greatest business leaders in the world here today, and they're going to walk away with a lot of checks," Trump told the prince. "In the United States, we're probably talking about two million jobs," he added.

"The largest defense cooperation agreement"

According to the White House, Saudi Arabia will purchase nearly $142 billion in weapons, in what it called "the largest defense cooperation agreement" signed by Washington in history, although Trump alluded to a higher figure during his first term

The White House said Saudi Arabian company DataVolt will invest $20 billion in U.S.-based artificial intelligence companies, and that tech firms like Google will invest in both countries, a positive development for Saudi Arabia, which has long been subject to restrictions on U.S. advanced technology.

In front of the cameras, a large entourage of Saudi royal and business figures waited to shake hands with Trump and the crown prince, including Elon Musk, the world's richest person and a close advisor to Trump.
